JPATTERSSON [ Live ]

Press

This is a story about pleasantly unusual things, about the bass pressure of Dub and Reggae, about the ritual loss of control at Electro parties, and about a loft bed in East Germany. This is the story of JPattersson.

It's the carefree ruckus of some kids playing on the street that wakes a prospective music teacher from his afternoon nap on a summer day in 2012. He’s awake now, but at the same moment he starts dreaming: About a sound that is just as positive and energetic, that is bursting with joy of life. A sound that disrespects norms and standards in the most innocent way. A sound he wants to produce right now, using the name JPattersson: PROGADUB.

What does it sound like? Well, sometimes JPattersson is dubby, dope and extremely laid-back, and sometimes he's obsessed with driving electronic rhythms. Sometimes his sound is reminiscent of Reggae or Dub, and sometimes it's catchy club grooves. Sometimes his tracks are dominated by synthetic tunes, and sometimes they oscillate freely around the sound of his trumpet or his voice. Obviously he created his own little genre: PROGADUB. His debut album on Acker Records gives an entertaining impression of how multifaceted this style is, and as a part of the illustrious 3000° Travelling Circus JPattersson's liveact stirs blissful turmoil on a growing number of dance floors around the world.
